Summer Bucket List

Thank you to my awesome friend Courtney for this idea! Although this post is somewhat late since summer actually began last month, I still have quite some time to start and finish a summer bucket list. The season ‘officially’ goes until about mid-September, or more like the end of October here in Houston if we’re going by weather!

Untitled

1. Get my IT band completely healed, put it in the past, and learn for the future.

2. Put together my official training plan for the Dopey Challenge.

3. Start running again!

4. Start a new blog series for meal planning & healthy eating on a budget.

5. Get a tan – I am still pale!

6. Get measured for a Triathlon bike, and then find one that is a reasonable price.

7. Read at least the first book in the Game of Thrones series. I got them for Christmas last year, and it’s about time I started reading them!

8. Take an outdoor adventure (i.e. hiking, camping, trail running, etc.).

9. Pick a new restaurant to try for Houston Restaurant Week (which is really all of August). This has been an annual thing for Robert and I since we have been together!

10. Try Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga for the first time.

11. Figure out how Robert and I will celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary in September! Any ideas?

12. Volunteer at a race.

13. Go to a baseball game.

14. Be HAPPY and enjoy the little things each day!

I will revisit this list in October sometime to see how many of these I accomplished!

QOTD: What’s on your summer bucket list?

  1. LOVE this list! You've reminded me that I want to make volunteering at a race a priority. I used to volunteer at least once year with my running team, but now I travel to and work so many races that it's been a while since I've volunteered at one. Going to add that to my list!

    1. I saw it on a blog post recently and thought it looked like fun, so I looked it up to see if Houston had anything like that! Sure enough, it does - about an hour away from me but totally worth the drive I bet!

  4. Standup Paddle Board Yoga: wow talk about multitasking! That sounds like a lot to do on one board. Love the rest of your bucket list items.

  5. Being completely healed and running better is definitely on my list too! Are you going to start a new blog or just add some more food posts on this one? When I first started blogging I really thought I would do more healthy eating and nutrition tips ( since I am a nutrition teacher and all, it seemed perfect), But I noticed that sadly I don't think I have the readership for that :( I may try again though!

    1. I think it's the season of ITBS injuries...yuck! I hope we're both up and running (ha!) soon.

I won't be starting a new blog. I will probably add a day of posts with meal planning and budgeting and such... I got a lot of positive feedback when I asked about it on Monday! :0)

  6. Don't worry about being pale... your skin will thank you when your 90
I would be so lost in game of thrones books because of the names. I get easily confused.
Yep - volunteer a race. So much fun! I want to do it again soon myself!

    1. You make a very valid point! Although I was a lifeguard in high school so I probably need to start looking into skin lotions for younger skin and dark spots soon lol!

  10. Stand up paddle board yoga sounds like a lot of fun! I don't really have a list, but I want to start cooking on a regular basis again, improve my running pace, meet up with a certain Texan *cough* you *cough*, and in general just relax and enjoy living with my hubby again! :)

    1. That is a very good list of summer accomplishments! We will deifnitely be meeting up - I don't suppose you'd be interested in doing a sprint tri at the end of September near Austin (Lost Pines)? I posted the info on my Facebook yesterday, you should check it out! www.spagirltri.com

  11. This is an awesome bucket list!!! I too need to get back to reading. I've got quite a few ebooks in my nook app that I need to jump on!

Volunteering for a race is sooo fun! I love the perspective it gives you from being on the "other side" of things. In fact, I'm volunteering for my 3rd race this Sunday.

I'd love to read that meal planning & healthy eating on a budget series! I was posting a meal planning post on Sundays and linking up with Laura and Jill but I've totally been slack on that. I don't know when the last time I did one of those posts.

Good luck on the dopey challenge! :)

  12. I have a whole stack of books I've gotten as gifts in the last year that I haven't gotten around to reading! I'm hoping to tackle at least a couple of them this summer. You'll have to let us know how you like the Game of Thrones books.
