DIY: Animal Rescue Kit

Today I welcome you to a post that is completely unrelated to running/fitness/healthy eating, but such is the life of an injured runner. On last week’s "Very Inspiring Blogger" post, I mentioned that I always carry around an animal rescue kit so that if and when I see a stray dog (or cat) I am able to help right then and there! I had planned on doing a blog post on this eventually, but due to the overwhelmingly positive response I received about it, I decided to write this post sooner than expected. I love that I have so many readers who are dog/cat lovers!

After finding a stray Labrador a few months ago (who went to a wonderful home!), my mom graciously decided to put this rescue kit together for me so that I can always have it with me in the trunk of my car. Here are some of the essential (and a couple ‘just in case’) items she included in it so you don’t forget anything if you decide to put one together for yourself.

I have a large “Hefty” container in which to keep all the products

QOTD: Would you add anything else to your animal rescue kit?

  1. Ahh, this is perfect! You are like an Angel for stray pets! (you need to add a pin it button so we can pin it to pinterest) :)

    1. Aww, thank you! That is so sweet of you to say! As for a Pin it button - if you hover over any of the pictures in the post, a Pinterest option should show up! :0)

  2. This is all great! I think some gauze might come in handy if the dog or cat's paws need wrapping.

  3. When I saw you mention this kit a week ago, I was so intrigued, I am glad you decided to do a post on it!
This is amazing, I love it, and love that you do this!
I know this is going to come out the wrong way, but I hope you are the one that comes in contact with a stray pet instead of others! This is pretty cool! In fact it could be a business idea, I bet people would be willing to buy these kits, just a thought:)

    1. Thank you :0) As long as they are found with someone who has a helpful heart, that is what matters! As for a business idea, I hadn't thought of that - definitely something to mull over!

  4. This put the biggest smile on my face, I think this (and you) are truly amazing!! I have always adopted rescue dogs (my sweet Morgan is a rescue) but I'd like to foster dogs in the future (if Robyn agrees!)

    1. Thank you so much ladies! I completely agree about being careful...I will never chase down an animal. If they come to me then that is when I help them but if they run away or seem dangerous, I will not stay.
