Weekly Recap 5/5/14 – 5/11/14

Happy Tuesday y’all! Sorry for the late recap post this week. Robert and I moved into our new apartment this past weekend, and I just now got internet back this morning. We haven’t quite finished decorating yet, so no pictures today, but should be done soon! I’ve even scouted out an area to make a shrine to running (aka my medal display area).

We ended up moving from a first story apartment to a second story, which I am thrilled about it. Not only will it give me extra little workouts every day, it gave me a major workout during the actual move. Robert and I did most of the moving on our own and only used an actual moving company to take care of the furniture to help minimize expenses.

Also, this is our new view. It is beautiful and peaceful. I open the door to the patio with the screen door closed (don’t need bugs getting in!) so I can hear the birds chirping and wind chimes going, and it is perfect for my yoga sequence. It really helps transport me to a very relaxing state, which I need right now. I’ll probably end up writing more on this later, but this not being able to run thing is really getting to me. It is frustrating and upsetting, and I’ve realized that running isn’t just an extra ‘want’ in my life, it’s something that I truly NEED.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday. Although mine was quite busy, it was very enjoyable spending it with my husband and puppies! They gave me an adorable card, and my parents sent me beautiful flowers and a teddy bear! I’ll be re-potting the flowers today so I can keep them around longer than just a couple of weeks. I feel so blessed to be a daughter to the best mom ever, and to be a mom to the two cutest, and sometimes mischievous, pups!

I have to say my workouts went pretty well this week. Even though I wasn’t able to run, I still sweat a lot and did some stretching and foam rolling. I also spent some time each day packing up the old apartment then Friday, Saturday, and Sunday was spent moving/unpacking/organizing/cleaning.

My Workouts This Week:

Monday: Yoga + 3 Sets of (250 Jump Ropes, 50 Squats while holding two 10 lb weights, 1 minute plank)

Tuesday: 30 Minutes Elliptical (Hill Training – One Big Hill)

Wednesday: Yoga

Thursday: 4 Sets of (250 Jump Ropes, 50 Squats while holding two 10 lb weights, 1 minute plank)

Friday: Moving/Unpacking

Saturday: Moving/Unpacking/Organizing/Cleaning

Sunday: Unpacking/Organizing/Cleaning

Monday Tuesday Motivation!

QOTD: How did you spend Mother’s Day?

  1. Looks like you still got some good workouts in! I have been so sick recently, thought it was allergies at first, but now its a full-blown cold and it has me down for the count! :(
Can't wait to see pics of the new place!!

  2. Packing is a great workout! Whenever I pack up for a wedding and I'm dripping in sweat I am reminded of this:) It's not that much different from packing and moving a home, in a way:) Congratulations on your new place, love that you are liking a 2nd floor place, your right it will give the booty an extra workout each day you go in and out, love your thinking!!!

  3. Okay, my doggies are in the dog house, they didn't get me a card...haha! The move sounds fun and exciting ( although it is probably exhausting for you). Can't wait to see pics when you get everything together. I love that quote you posted today!

  4. I love your new view!! One thing I definitely miss about apartment living is having a balcony and sitting outside, just relaxing (often with wine ;) Beautiful flowers too!

    1. I am definitely a fan of the balcony. We had one when we were on the first story, but it wasn't the same. Bushes were blocking the view and we were next to the pool so it got pretty noisy at times. Wine overlooking the balcony sounds like a great idea! :0)

  5. Packing is a great workout, but I understand totally about getting stressed without your running! Just remind yourself that resting now keeps you from having a longer running hiatus in the future from not letting your knee heal properly. I hope you can get back to normal soon! Very sweet card from your puppies. :)

  7. At least the moving's over with. I'm moving in January and I just don't want to think about it. I feel like I just unpacked everything from early last year.

  8. Your pups are so stinkin cute! And love that card... very true. I think all dogs with good owners feel that way :-) Ugh, I am glad I do not have to move for another year but I am already dreading it. It can be so exhausting. And I am loving your new view: soothing and serene.

  9. Moving is a fantastic workout...all the bending a lifting is an allover body workout. Your pups are adorable and how cute that you got a Mother's Day card from them. How sweet that your parents sent flowers and a teddy bear. You really have a thoughtful family. Enjoy your week and great job on the workouts!

  10. I love the new view!! I felt the same way about the extra exercise with our master being on the second floor, too.
We spent Mother's Day fishing at the neighborhood lake. I don't fish, but the kids loved it and it was kind of relaxing out there.
