Weekly Recap 3/31/14 – 4/6/14

Jump Rope Challenge Count: 1,350/10,000

What a week! I feel like I’ve been constantly going, going, going. Busy has been my middle name over the past week from work, errands, and more.

Last Wednesday I found a dog walking along the side of the road on my way home from work. I picked him up and took him to a vet to see if he had a microchip and also if I could find a shelter for him. He had a collar but no microchip, and it was too late to take him anywhere. I decided to take him home with me – he was SUCH a sweetie. I gave him the name Buddy. He ate and drank like he hadn’t in too long, and I gave him some toys and blankets/towels. We kept him on the patio for the evening then brought him inside to sleep in our guest bathroom so he’d be comfortable. The next day Robert and I both did everything we could to either 1) Find his owner if he had one, or 2) Get him adopted by a good family. Luckily, one of my co-worker’s and his family has adopted Buddy! He has a wonderful family with kids and another dog to play with, and a big backyard! He is going to live the happy, healthy life he deserves. I am so grateful that God sent me to help this adorable dog!

The jump rope challenge I committed to is going well. Everyday I am finding that jumping rope is a better exercise than I remembered. I can feel my calves getting stronger! Although my youngest dog, Malia, does not seem to enjoy it when I jump rope because she always tries to run towards me and bark when I do it (Robert has to hold her back). It’s rather hilarious!

Last Tuesday was my one year ‘blog-iversary’! I cannot believe it’s already been a whole year since I began my blogging project. I am so grateful to have gotten to know many of you through this endeavor, and I look forward to meeting everyone in person someday! I know I’ll get to meet a few of you at the Nike Women’s Half Marathon later this month, and even more of you at the runDisney Wine & Dine Half Marathon in November, and I couldn’t be more excited!

I think spring has finally arrived more consistently. We’ve had some seriously gorgeous days this past week!

My workouts over the past week were few and far between, but I did get some done. I’m hoping my schedule calms down more this upcoming week so I can get back to a more regular regimen. I need to do some serious preparation for Washington D.C…it’s just a few weeks away!

  1. If I know I'm going to be busy I try and get my workout done before work. I'm NOT a morning person but I feel much better knowing I already have it done and won't have to worry about it all day.

  4. Ahh - that dog reminds me of our yellow lab we had - she was the best dog :)
I've got my count in a little journal for my jump rope challenge. I actually like this one - I'll do it in the most random places... waiting for something to cook - waiting on my husband. I'll get in 50 jumps all the time :) Cant wait to see what my count is at the end of the month.

  9. That is awesome about the dog! So sweet of you to help it out!
Busy weeks totally affect my workout schedule. Last week I worked so much, it literally forced me from being able to get any runs in... Which is why this week I picked a lighter schedule, LOL..
I haven't jumped rope in years, I totally think that would be an awesome workout!!!

    1. My heart aches when I see stray animals. I just feel like it's my job to do what I can to help the ones I am given the opportunity to help. Our youngest dog is an adopted stray as well!

  13. Happy Blogiversary! I can't believe you have only been doing this for a year. I started about 6 months ago but didn't really start "meeting" other bloggers until the new year. I'm so glad I did. I've met some great people like you! I'm behind on the jump rope challenge. But we are on vacation next week and I packed the jump rope!
