April Fitness Challenge

Anybody else feel like this year is just flying by?! It’s crazy that April is already here. My last fitness challenge was 1,000 burpees in February, and there is a new challenge for the month of April making its way around Facebook – 10,000 jump ropes! I started it yesterday and plan on seeing it through the entire month. I have been feeling really tired lately and it has been difficult to muster up motivation to workout each day, so I want to commit to a challenge to get myself moving every single day!

April Fitness Challenge – 10,000 JUMP ROPES
(from the Kendrick Fitness Facebook page)

“If you don't have a jump rope, you can do the imaginary jump rope (just jumping from side to side while rotating wrist). This builds incredible calf, Achilles and overall ankle strength. You'll notice a huge difference in your running (faster reaction time) with this simple routine.”

Its a gradual buildup. Implement one day off every 7 days (3 days on, one day off, then 3 days on again). Break it into sets if you need.

First Week: 220 reps per day (1 day off)
Second Week: 320 reps per day (1 day off)
Third Week: 420 reps per day (1 day off)
Fourth Week: 520 reps per day (1 day off)
Last 2 days of month: 560 reps each day

**For experienced jumpers – triple up the numbers and go for 30,000 jumps.**

QOTD: Are you participating in an April fitness challenge?

  4. Wow, that sounds like a pretty crazy challenge. I really wanted to do the April Blogilates Ab challenge, but I just can't committ to starting anything new until after my marathon in a few weeks. May is going to be a bit month for me though, I am already starting to put my plan of action into place.

  7. Whew, that sounds tough! I used to love jumping rope, but just doing the Jillian Michaels pretend jump roping on 30 Day Shred is killing me! I can see how this would give you amazing results though!

  8. Oh my gosh! 10,000 jump ropes?!?! My hat is off to you- I surely cannot do that many in a month. Like April, I have a hard time with the "jump ropes" in the 30 Day Shred. I'm excited to see your progress though. Go Lauren!

  9. Maybe I should just set the goal to jump rope for a minute by the end of the month? There's no way I could do this challenge as I seem to have forgotten the coordination of jumping rope completely! Imagine what great shape your legs are going to be in after this!

  10. Great goal! I was watching the Doctors the other day and they were saying that's what Kate Hudson does everyday to stay in shape, although I think there is a little more to her regimen:)
