Weekly Recap 11/25 – 12/1

Marathon Training Countdown – 5 Weeks Down, 13 Weeks to Go!

What.a.week. A busy, fun, and mostly successful week that is! We did a lot of traveling and I had plans to get all my workouts in, but such is life and well, not everything got done. I did not do any strength training, but when it comes to running the miles, I did most of them. Wednesday and Thursday I was limited to the elliptical (the hotel’s treadmill was broken), which I was not pleased about – I really do not like the elliptical. While they do make me break a sweat, I just do not feel that productive when I am done. Last Wednesday I did 3 miles on a level 8 fat burn level, and Thursday I did 3 miles on a normal resistance level.

I also had the Believe! 10K race on Saturday (recap on Wednesday) and it was so much fun running it for the second time! I technically was supposed to do a long run of 10 miles this weekend, so I just broke it up into a couple of days – 6.2 on Saturday, then 3.8 on Sunday. So, overall, a mostly successful week of workouts, but of course today is the start of a new week, and I will be getting back to my normal training schedule!

Saturday was also my 26th birthday, and it was so much fun. I ran the 10K, then ate In-n-Out Burger for lunch, got my hair done, and had some delicious chocolate cheesecake!

I’ll talk more about this on Friday as a product review, but at the 10K on Saturday, I was able to try out a new product that I wrote about a few months ago – the FitSip. In the photo below, you can see it on my right forearm. I cannot wait to tell you more about it!

My workouts this week:

Monday: 4 x (800 meters fast pace + 400 meters walk)

800 meters pace = 8:45 min/mile
400 meters pace = comfortable walk

Tuesday: Travel Day/Family Day

Wednesday: 3 Miles on the Elliptical – high resistance

Thursday: Travel Day/3 Miles on the Elliptical – normal resistance

Friday: Rest Day (unless shopping counts?!)

Saturday: Believe! 10K (Recap on Wednesday)

Sunday: 3.8 Mile Run (Pace: 10:30 min/mile)

QOTD: Do you usually get all your workouts done during a travel/holiday week?


  1. Traveling is tough... I'll be feeling stress over Christmas break when I'm in Colorado for 2 weeks and no where near a treadmill. Not to mention it's absolutely freezing cold for this Texan so running outside is not an option. What to do, what to do?

    1. Yikes! Outdoor Colorado running cannot be pleasant (especially for a Texan lol). Good luck out there! Best advice I could say is maybe take your Jillian Michael's DVD's with you?

  2. Happy Birthday to you Lauren! How fun to race on your birthday, I want to do that! BTW, you look supercute in your glasses. I knew I would be busy and just made sure I didn't have any really long runs. I did run what I had planned, 3x's this week, and it worked well to skip the long run with how much work I had.

  3. Happy Birthday Lauren! That reminds me, I will be mailing your "gift" out this week! Your workouts look great! It's hard to keep moving here now that the temperatures have dropped, but I'm trying! Keep up the good work!

  4. I hate the elliptical too! I'd rather do twice the workout on the treadmill than do the elliptical. It requires a level of coordination I just do not have! - Jess
