Safety First

Safety is an important issue to consider for all athletes. I know many people, including myself, who enjoy running outdoors and running solo. Heck, even if you have a running partner safety will always be essential.

Road ID bracelets are a great accessory to have when you go out running/biking/swimming/etc. For those of you have aren’t sure what this is, it is a very useful piece of gear that could be your life-saver in case of an emergency. It will speak for you if you cannot speak for yourself.

To further your safety, though, is the new FREE phone app that is to be used in conjunction with the road ID bracelet. Currently available for the iPhone (don’t worry Droid users, the app will be launched for us soon!), the Road ID app has wonderful features for athletes. In addition to real-time workout tracking, it keeps you connected with your family to create peace of mind for all.

Here are some of the unique features of this app:

1. eCrumb (electronic breadcrumbs): Allows your family and friends to track you in real time when you go outside.

2. Stationary Alert: This is a fantastic optional feature that advises people of your choice if you stop moving for over 5 minutes.

3. Customizable Lock Screen: In case of an emergency where you are unable to speak, this feature will allow someone to see important information on your phone’s lock screen. It can include information such as name, city, state, emergency contacts, and pertinent medical information.

QOTD: Do you often run outdoors? Do you have a Road ID product, or would you purchase one?

  1. I love this app. This would be perfect for my sister because she often runs alone, but she refuses to take her phone on a run!

    1. I don't usually run with my phone either, but when this app comes out for droid, I may start!

  2. What a great app! I always run outside and never with any kind of ID, just my phone, so this would be great.
