2013 Milestone

One of my 2013 goals is to run 600+ miles over the course of the year. This past Tuesday, I reached my half way point at 300 miles! I am very excited because I knew in the beginning that this was a hefty goal to set for myself. It feels great to know that I am right on schedule, since we are almost halfway through the year.

My other goals for 2013 include:

1. Run 2 half marathons – Check! I may do another one in December as well, but since I also have the Tinkerbell Half in January, it might be too many? I don’t want to risk injury, so we shall see.

2. Run a 10K in under 55 minutes – ALMOST! I my 10K PR currently sits at 55:50, and that was in the sweltering heat and humidity. I am thinking I can definitely get under 55 if the weather is right, so I will find one during the fall season.

3. Run at least 1 timed 5K – Check! It was even my first trail/obstacle run too!

I must admit I am feeling very motivated because I feel truly accomplished to have done all this when my very first race was less than a year ago! With the right mindset and hard work, any goal can be accomplished!

QOTD: What are your goals for 2013? How are you doing on them?

  1. Great goals and congrats on the ones you've accomplished Lauren! Just wondering why you picked 6000 miles as your goal for this year? Any significance to that number? I would love to race a 5k in under 30 minutes, my last rae was exactly 30 minutes but i just can't seem to break that number. I also would like to reduce my time on my 10ks as well. Eventually under 1 hour. I have only run this distance a few times already, so we shall see. Good luck with the rest of your goals this year! -M

Ps. I like your motivational images in your post!

    1. Thanks Meranda! I hope by 6000 you mean 600 haha! 6000 would be a bit too much for me :) But 600 doesn't really have any significance, I just wanted to choose a number that I knew would be challenging but at the same time, would be doable!

Best of luck with all of your goals, I know you'll do great!

  2. Love your first quote! 600 miles is an awesome goal! Do your training runs count towards your 10k PR? My only solid goal for 2013 is to beat last year's half marathon time. And to keep up with my training for Tink. :)

    1. Thanks! I haven't really thought about counting training runs... but I never run faster than my race pace during them anyway so I doubt I'd beat my time during one lol

Good luck with your goals! I am positive you can beat last year's half marathon time!
