Weekly Recap 4/8 – 4/14

My training went pretty well overall this week. Friday was the only day that I did not do any stretching, which does not quite meet my mini-goal but 6 out of 7 days is still good! Also, to help me out with my goal of strength training, I have a couple of new additions to my schedule, and they are killer workouts! 

Here are my workouts for the week:

Monday: Jillian Michaels Killer Buns & Thighs (40 minutes)

Tuesday: 3 mile tempo run (Pace: 9 min/mile)

Wednesday: 4.5 mile maintenance run (Pace: 10:30 min/mile)

Thursday: Speed work intervals – 3 x (1200 meters race pace + 400 meters walk)

1200 meters = 0.75 mile (Pace: 8:45 min/mile)
400 meters = 0.25 mile (Pace: Comfortable walk)

Friday: Rest Day

Saturday: 8.05 mile long run in 1:27:32 -- This was an interesting week for weather. It ranged all the way from almost freezing and rainy, to hot and humid with zero clouds. Saturday’s weather was absolutely beautiful, but it was definitely a tough running day. I did not make it out to the park until about 10:30 AM, so the sun was already shining high and bright with no clouds, and there was barely a breeze to cool me down. That being said, I knew I had to slow my pace and not push myself. With the weather heating up, getting the miles done is far more important than pace.

Sunday: Jillian Michaels 6-Week Six-Pack (35 minutes)

I think this shirt would work well for running in the Texas heat!

  1. I got caught running in the heat as well (though nothing like your Texas heat!) I must have missed the memo that the sun is rising earlier. ;) How are your new additions? Jillian Michaels is definitely not one to be taken lightly. Her 30 Day Shred still kicks my butt. :)

    1. Both of her workout DVD's are insane! I am just on level one and they are kicking my butt!
