Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend

Registration is officially open to the public for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend! The Runner’s World Challenge has been open for a few days, and is already 90% full, so if you plan on registering at all, you may want to do so ASAP. I won’t be there next year since I have decided on the Tinkerbell Half and the Wine & Dine Half for 2014, but I will be there in either 2015 or 2016. Early bird pricing per person is as follows (price increases on June 19th):
Marathon: $160
Half Marathon: $160
10K: $95
5K: $60
Goofy Challenge (Half Marathon & Marathon): $340
Dopey Challenge (5K, 10K, Half Marathon & Marathon): $495
Do not forget to submit an official proof of time from another race – Disney has revamped their guidelines. The following description is straight from the runDisney website:
“New 2014 runDisney proof of time guidelines:
If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in less than 3:15 hours or the Marathon in less than 6:30 hours, proof of time is required for start corral placement. Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge and Dopey Challenge participants should adhere to Full Marathon proof of time requirements. Please reference the Race Pacing Chart below for finish times and associated pacing per mile.
A Proof of time must be provided from a certified race reflecting results after January 1, 2012.
·         Half Marathon - 10K or longer
·         Full Marathon - 10 Miles or longer

A valid proof of time provided at the time of registration must include the following:
·         Name and Date of Race & Distance of Race
·         City, State
·         Finish time

If you do not have a proof of time to submit, list "N/A" at the point of registration. If proof of time is not provided by November 1, 2013 you will be placed in the last start corral. If your proof of time data is incomplete or cannot be verified, you will be placed in the last start corral. To provide or update your proof of time, you must email all proof of time data requested above to disneysports@trackshack.com. No corral changes will be made after November 1, 2013.
As a reminder, you will no longer be able to bring proof of your estimated finish time to the Runner Relations booth during the Expo and have your start corral placement changed.”
Other Changes being made to this race weekend:
1.       There will be 2,000 LESS race registrations available (this is a total number between the half and the full marathon)
2.       There will be more corrals to help space runners out (and a possible earlier start time)
3.       Proof of time is required if you want to be placed in a corral other than the last one
4.       Unisex t-shirts are no more -- Women’s tech shirts will be available! I know a lot of people will be excited about this one!

QOTD: Will you be signing up for any of the races during the WDW Marathon Weekend?

  1. Not signing up for any of the WDW marathon weekend races this year, but I already know that's where I want to run my first full marathon. Hopefully in 2015!

    1. Disney would definitely be the perfect place to run a first full marathon! I am considering it for either 2015 or 2016, maybe I will see you there!
